The Intellectuals of Gjilan
Our story
Football Club Drita was founded in Gjilan in 1947. In 1952 the regime dissolved the club, but Drita came back and in 1962/63 became champion of the Kosovo Province League.
The 1990s were the era of Selami Osmani-Bezi. Drita finished second in 1999/2000 and 2001/02, won the Kosovo Cup in 2000/01 and a year later took its first Superleague title in 2002/03.
Since 2016 the club has been led by Valon Murseli and Flamur Bunjaku. After the 2017/18 title, with a 31-match unbeaten run, Drita became the first Kosovar club to win a Champions League match. Titles followed in 2019/20, 2024/25 and 2025/26.
The supporters' name, Intelektualët (the Intellectuals), dates from 1997/98, when most players were also writers, poets and politicians. Today they are the largest ultras group in Kosovo. The derby with SC Gjilani, the Anamorava Derby, is the city's fiercest match.
